　　Mathilda去警察局找杀了她弟弟的仇人Stan警官，Mathilda在厕所撞见了Stan，Stan拿着枪，低着身对Mathilda说了一句话——

　　It’s when you start to become really afraid of death that you learn to appreciate life.

　　人只有开始变得非常害怕死亡的时候才能学会珍惜生命。

　　这个句子不仅充满了哲理，而且是学习托福写作的好材料，因为这是一个强调句。强调句可以为小伙伴们的托福独立写作增添色彩，让考官觉得：“这个人肚子里有点货。”现在津桥小编就带领大家来看看强调句的写法，其实强调句的公式非常简单，就是：

　　It is/was + 强调部分 + that + 剩余部分.（当谓语动词是过去式的时候用was）

　　但要注意一个规则：强调人可以用that或who，但强调其他成分要用that，也就是说，强调时间不能用when，强调地点不能用where，下面我们就来强调一下以下句子的各个部分——

　　I ran into my ex-girlfriend in the park this morning.

　　今天早上我在公园撞见了我的前任女友。

　　It was I that/who ran into my ex-girlfriend in the park this morning.

　　It was my ex-girlfriend that/who I ran into in the park this morning.

　　It was in the park that I ran into my ex-girlfriend this morning.

　　It was this morning that I ran into my ex-girlfriend in the park.

　　如果要检验一个句子变为强调句是否变对了，那就是把it is/was和that都去掉，看是否能还原原句。

　　现在我们把电影中的那个句子的缩写打开，变为：

　　It is when you start to become really afraid of death that you learn to appreciate life.

　　把it is和that都去掉，得到：

　　You learn to appreciate life when you start to become really afraid of death.
